My Letter to ObamaDear President Obama,
I was wondering if you really know what it is like to live in the poor mans shoes? What it is like to struggle by on less than $20,000 a year?
I do. I live it every year along with my husband and 2 kids. We struggle every month just to make it through, to pay the bills, and attempt to give our kids the best we can. As a daughter, a mother, a wife, and as a lower class citizen I struggle with your decisions to cut the assistance this country offers to help families like us.
My Mother and Father are also lower income citizens, my mother with a lot of health issues has been denied medical assistance after her stroke she suffered, Dec 7 2010. They told her the only way she'd be eligible is if she'd come home a vegetable... I don't get it. There are people who have less medical problems than she does that receive a medical card.... She suffers from depression, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, and tremors that closely resemble those associated with P
Red Riding HoodI want to believe people so badly when they say they won’t bite
that I contemplate climbing into their smiling jaws
thinking that it might be better to be split in two than left hanging.
But always, I draw my red hood and flit back into the forest
running in the shadows of pathways, never stepping into clearings
because I’ve spent my whole life in the wilderness
and I still can’t tell the wolves from the woodsmen.
